The Glenview Chamber of Commerce announced that Jennings Chevrolet & Volkswagen has been named our 2009 Business of the Year. This award was given to Jennings Chevrolet & Volkswagen in recognition of their active role as a member of both the Glenview Chamber and the Glenview Community. 
 
It all started in 1958 when Jim’s father was the general manager of a Chevrolet dealership on the south side. He had an application in to be a dealer when one became available. The dealer in Glenview, who was in his early thirties, died in an automobile accident. Jim’s dad was offered the Glenview franchise and accepted. He commuted daily from the south side for about nine months and the purchased a house in Glenview. Jim was in second grade at the time and the dealership was located at the present location of NAPA Glenbrook Auto Parts. Jim has worked in the business his whole life including washing cars and cleaning out every parts bin and started full time since 1974, with his brother John joining the company in 1983. In 1986 they acquired the Volkswagen franchise and later that year Jim’s father passed away. They moved into their present location in 1967. Jennings Chevrolet will celebrate its 52nd year next February and Jennings Volkswagen will celebrate its 24th year next March. As one nomination form stated, “ It is well known that Jennings Chevrolet and Volkswagen is a very charitable organization in the Glenview community, with 2009 being a very different and difficult year for many businesses, but Jenning’s is still “giving”. Join the Chamber at the holiday party on December 3rd when Jennings will receive the Business of the Year award.

On June 29th I brought my 2008 Buick in for warranty service for the driver side door lock. I wanted you to know what an excellent job Chris McElroy did in keeping me informed about the progress of the repair. You did not have the parts required in stock and consequently so I left the car. "Mac" called me at home when the parts arrived and when the car was finished. Customer service is very important to me and I was impressed. I will be back and I’ll ask for "Mac".

On April 8, 2010 I was just passing your dealership a little after 8:00PM and all of a sudden my dash indicated that I should service my tire monitor pressure sensors.  I knew that your service department was open until 11:00PM so I decided to turn around and see by chance if my car could be looked at, or at least I could leave it at the service department and get a ride home.  I was very pleased that Ken Ward my favorite service consultant was there.  I told him what happened and he asked me to bring the car into the service area.  He had my car looked at immediately and a little after 9:00PM he comes into the customer lounge and tells me my car was fixed and I was ready to go home.  Amazing is it not?  I have been working with Ken ever since I have been buying cars from Jennings's Chevrolet.  To me he is the best of the best!  I ask that this e-mail is shown to the powers to be and that Ken receives a pat on the back for a job well done.  Ken Ward is a real asset to your dealership and the reason that makes the Jennings's experience so wonderful.  He has done so many nice things for me and I have heard him handling other customers. It only proves to me one thing, and that is Ken is a real professional!!!!!

I have been purchasing Chevrolet vehicles from Jennings Chevrolet since approximately 1995, & have always been pleased with your company's professionalism and the high level of service provided by both your sales and service departments.  Last November, I agreed to purchase an new 2010 Equinox from Debbie Ress & your sales manager.  No documents were signed, but we agreed upon a cash difference in addition to my trade-in and factory rebates.  I was told that the Equinox was ordered as per my specifications, and that it should arrive in several weeks. 


I would like to take this opportunity to apprise you of the fact that I have never had a more pleasant experience when buying a new car.  I have been buying new cars for more than 40 years, & have never enjoyed the process more than with the purchase of the Equinox.  I would particularly like to thank Ms. Debbie Ress for her professionalism and the level of service she provided.  She kept me apprised of the progress of my order all through the manufacture & delivery of my new Equinox, &, upon purchase, did a wonderful job of explaining and demonstrating all of the cars systems.

As a business owner, I am all too aware of the fact that we most often hear from our customers only about complaints and problems.  However, I strongly feel that good employees should also be recognized for excellent work.  Ms. Ress deserves this recognition.  I would also like to commend Mac in your service department (sorry, I don't know his last name.)  He has always been a pleasure to work with, & has been both both conscientious and efficient.

I did not buy my car from them but they treat me as if I was one of their best customers. TJ,in the service area,has always been respectful and has been able to save me money when it can be done. I have only myself to depend on and I do not feel JENNINGS has taken advantage of me. I adore my HHR. My last Chevy was a 1960 corvair convertable 4 speed. That too was fun to drive...I will remain a JENNINGS customer....they are the best...

Over the course of two days in August, I spent several hours waiting for the work to be completed on my car. This was necessary and completely understandable because of the service needs my car required. I did not see the need to rent a car as I had nowhere that I needed to be. I did, however, have a lot of work to do to get ready for the new school year. I had a pleasant and quiet environment in which to work and accomplished everything I had set out to do. During my many hours there, my Service Consultant, Mac McElroy, carefully explained what was being done with my car and kept me informed of the progress of the repairs. Many times he asked if I needed anything while I was waiting. I appreciate his thoughtfulness and concern. I am glad that he is my Service Consultant and you should be very proud that you have such an outstanding person representing you. I am very pleased with the repairs made to my car. She is old but very reliable and I hope to keep her running for many years to come. I am sure that will be possible with the excellent service I receive at Jennings. Thank you.

To Whom It May Concern: Jennings is the only dealer I will do busniess with! I have been buying since 1985 some used and some new. We are treated incredibly well. I have recommended all my friends to Jennings and they too are most satisfied. I commend Abu Adar for the time he spent with us explaining all the features our new vehicle has. Jim Walsh, Ray Morris and Abu worked so very hard to find the exact car we wanted. We have always been treated us so well over 25. I would also like to mention Ken Schultz. TJ (Service)

Today August 18, 2009 was one of those days that just seemed that everything was not going in the best way for me. Then I get home a little after 5:00 PM and drove my car in the garage only to find that my ignition key would not budge and there was no way to turn off the car. Because your service department is open to 11:00PM I decided to drive the car from Northbrook to your dealership. I was happy to see TJ in the service department because I know he usually works days. Well the most amazing thing happened that I did not expect this evening. TJ told me to wait in the lounge and he would get back to me in a few minutes. Then TJ comes into the lounge and tells me that there was a defect in the key cylinder and it would be fixed in 25 minutes. Twenty Five minutes later TJ comes into the lounge and tells me that I am good to go home with my car. Unbelievable is it not? This is not the first time that TJ has taken such good care of me. I have heard him talking to other customers too and I must say he is the best. Please Mr. Jennings give TJ a pat on the back for me because I know that it will mean a great deal to him as well as to me! You have a wonderful store and the people you employ are all so professional, warm, and kind.~

Bob Buhuer & Chris “Mac” McElroy (Sale & Service)


I’m not sure where to begin. I always have something to say, but I’m dumbfounded, speechless, and still in awe 3 days after the fact. I’m 62 and never wrote a letter of praise in my life, I had to do it. I have purchased 3 trucks from you in the past and I have always liked your dealership, but now I love your dealership! You have treated me as if my last name was Jennings itself. To the best sales man I ever had (Bob Buehrer), an “EXCELLENT” service advisor that actually cares (Mac) has always been my advocate, I guess the service manager who recognizes, what’s fair is fair.
 
I’m not going to go into the list of what your dealership has done for me, it’s to numerous, instead I would rather talk about ‘FAIRNESS’ the over the top service and how you stand behind what you sell even after the extended warranty ran out. I never wanted something for nothing, I wasn’t raised that way, everybody should be able to make money in their business, but its how you make money… Either honestly or dishonestly. With fair prices or over inflated prices. Your dealership has consistently been fair and done the right thing by me, which still after the last service on 08/07/09. I hope your dealership in these hard economic times prospers, you deserve it.

On Tuesday, July 28th, my husband and I came to Jennings to look for a car. Your salesman Al Sihweil came over and introduced himself and we proceeded from there. We told him what our budget was and that we were looking for a used car, since we are retired and on a fixed income. Al was very gracious and helpful and did not try to push us into a higher priced car. We ended up purchasing a 2008 Malibu and picked it up Wednesday. Al was very patient since we had a lot of questions and also very charming. All in all it was a great experience because of Al and we wanted to let you know how pleased we are.

I had my car (2007 Cobalt) serviced at Jennings Chevrolet on 7/02/2009. McElroy (Mac), service consultant, handled my problems. He was very professional, patient, and courteous. He was very careful questioning us about the problems, recorded and recited back to us our complaints- so there would be no misunderstanding. He explained in detail the work to be done. Later he called us and told us when the service would be completed.
 
We were very satisfied with the service and the manner in which Mr. McElroy treated us. I think Jennings is very fortunate to have McElroy as an employee. If we require service in the future, I will request Mac to handle our case.

Chris “Mac” McElroy (Service)

Recently over the 4th of July weekend I was in the Chicago area moving my daughter into her new apartment. Suddenly on Friday afternoon the transmission in my 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup went out. My sister lives in Glenview and highly recommended your dealership and put me into contact with your service consultant, Mac McElroy. Mac spoke with me several times that afternoon and offered various suggestions to try and determine what might be the problem I was having with the pickup. Once we determined it would have to be towed, Mac put me in contact with the towing service and even took the time to call me a few hours later to check and see if I had been contacted by the towing service. Once again Monday I was treated with kindness as I arrived at the dealership and Mac was very patient in explaining the diagnosis, repairs needed and cost. He informed me my vehicle would be repaired and ready for pickup Tuesday evening and it actually was finished Tuesday afternoon allowing me to head back to southern Illinois and arriving home before nightfall. I am also thankful to the mechanics that allowed me an earlier start on my trip home. Considering that I was just a customer passing through, I also very much appreciate Mac’s follow up call to make sure all was well with the repairs. My sister told me your dealership had an outstanding reputation for taking good care of customers and I found that to be the absolute truth! Again, I would like to acknowledge Mac for all the kindness he showed to an out of town customer!! He is truly and outstanding representative of Jennings Chevrolet!! Thank you so much!

This letter is overdue but we would like to commend one of your service consultants, “Mac” McElroy for the extraordinary service he provided us in December and January. Our Astro had a few different issues, one of which required extensive diagnosing. Each time Mac arranged for a rental to be ready for us and kept us informed as the problem was being diagnosed. Although car repairs can be frustrating his professionalism and attention given to our rental needs were exemplary.
 
We have worked with Mac over the years for service needs and there is a reason for that. He is the utmost professional and always follows up with a phone call to be sure ware are satisfied with service. He is an exceptional asset to Jennings Chevrolet.

My experience with the purchase with the purchase of my 2008 Malibu at Jennings was an enjoyable experience. I still praise my salesman, Peter McDonald and how satisfied I was with his patience, knowledge and sincerity. He was a stranger and became a trusted friend.
 
I have driven Fords, Chevrolets, Buicks, Pontiacs, Chryslers and now a Malibu. I love it! I’ve had several people says “that’s a beautiful car-what is it?” I proudly say “it’s a Chevy.” I have never driven a bad GM car and I do drive them for 7 or 8 years before I sell them in good condition.
 
My mechanic of 30 some years always says “don’t turn your car in when you purchase a new one, I’ll have a buyer for it!” (And he has).
 
Do I like Jennings Chevrolet, and do I trust my salesman Peter McDonald? I sure do!

I would like to thank Jennings Chevrolet for the excellent service provided to me for recent work done on my car by the body shop. The treatment I was given by the personnel in the body shop was exceptional. Steve Vincent, Jonathan Quinonez and Karen Winslow form a great team. I appreciate the phone calls from Karen every couple of days informing me of the progress being made on my car. All repairs were completed beautifully and the car functions as it should.
 
Should I need body work done to my car in the future, you can be assured I will return to the Jennings body shop.

Recently we brought our Hummer into Jennings for a tune up. The service was great and as soon as the brake pads were in, I needed to bring it back again.
 
The service department found other minor problems, and solved everything under warranty. The attention to our car was phenomenal. Your crew was so polite and kind. One gentleman, Mr. John Sison, was there in the early morning hours, and at night when I picked up the car. His calls during the day informed me of every step it took to fix my Hummer. Mr. Sison was an excellent representative of the service department and Jennings Chevrolet. In this day and age, I can honestly tell you it is a privilege to have Jennings service our cars.

I am not the person who is prone to write letters commenting on quality of service, but a recent occurrence at your dealership prompts me to do so.
 
My Chevrolet Cavalier broke down on the road this past Wednesday, necessitating a service call to AAA and a tow truck. In brief, the tire and battery store technician who installed the replacement battery mishandled some adjacent wiring. As a result, the electrical system malfunctioned and the car began to perform erratically after I had departed the store.
 
I brought the car to your dealership the next day. Not having made an appointment, I was prepared to leave the car until your technicians had the opportunity to perform an evaluation. I noticed that your service area was moderately busy. I was greeted immediately by Mr. John Sison, who suggested that I remain a few minutes until he had the opportunity to make a preliminary inspection.
 
Momentarily, John called me to the car to point out some disconnections in the wiring hookups. He then offered a test drive. Upon our return, he asked me to wait in the customer lounge. To conclude the story: my car was repaired, washed and ready to collect in fewer than thirty minutes. Please give John a big pat on the back for me, because I had wrongly assumed that I would be a pedestrian for a few days.
 
I have bringing my Volkswagens and Chevrolet (which I purchased at your dealership) to Jennings for service for well over fifteen years. It is nice to know that there still are stores where staff hasn’t forgotten the definition of customer satisfaction.
 
There is no doubt that my wife and I will be purchasing our next new car from one of your dealerships. Your staff is very customer-oriented. Keep up the good work.

In 2008, I have been to your facilities three times for various services on my 2006 Chevrolet Impala. Each time, I have been attended to by your service consultant, Mac McElroy. I would like to express my appreciation for the most pleasant experiences I have had with having my automobile serviced. Mac was always attentive to my complaints and took none of them for granted. He always updated me on the progress of my job orders and made sure that my services were finished on time. Even when he had to decline my request for an earlier appointment, he was always courteous and reasonable. He never failed to follow up by phone to make sure the jobs were done right. Mac certainly puts Jennings Chevrolet’s best foot forward.

Pete is wonderful to deal with as well and really took his time to make sure that everything was in place.
 
Your $19.58 oil change is terrific and I have always been treated well in that department.

I FIRST WALKED INTO JENNINGS IN 2005. I LEASED A 2005 MALIBU MAXX. IN 2007 I LEASED A 2007 THIS EQUINOX LT FOR MY WIFE, BUT I MOSTLY DROVE IT MYSELF. IN 2008 I BOUGHT HER A NEW EQUINOX LS, AND TURNED IN THE MAAX. DURING THIS PERIOD I WAS TREATED TO THE BEST SERVICE AND COURTESY I HAD EVER EXPERIENCED FROM AN AUTO DEALER. I BRAGGED TO MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS ABOUT THE TREATMENT I WAS RECEIVING FROM JENNINGS. THIS PROMPTED MY SON TOM TO PICK UP A SUBURBAN FROM YOU IN 2008.
