The entry-level Trailblazer LS has 17-inch silver-painted alloy wheels, automatic halogen headlights, and power-adjustable side exterior mirrors. It also has lower grille shutters and power door locks. A step up to the LT adds roof rails, LED fog lights, heated side mirrors, and tinted rear windows. This midlevel trim also comes with 17-inch black alloy wheels. The Activ has a tow hitch receiver, two-tone roof, skid plates, and off-road suspension, while the RS has 18-inch alloy wheels. Add the Sun and Liftgate Package for a panoramic sunroof and a hands-free liftgate or the Technology Package for LED headlights.

The base engine for the Trailblazer is a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gas engine that puts out 137 horsepower. It works with Chevy's continuously variable automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is optional and comes with a stronger 1.3-liter turbo three-cylinder engine that delivers 155 horsepower. This engine comes standard with the Activ and RS models. The turbo engine works with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The Chevy Trailblazer offers a smooth ride over most roads. The 1.3-liter engine is the better choice if you want more passing power, and it's more efficient too. The Activ mode's off-road capable suspension will take you over bumpy back roads, and most trims have 7.5 inches of ground clearance. The all-wheel-drive system has three different driving modes, including one for snow, making this a good compact SUV for winter weather driving.

Inside, the Trailblazer has a surprising amount of space for passengers and cargo. The driver will enjoy the elevated seating position and a good view of their surroundings, and the rear seat passengers have over 39 inches of legroom. Cloth upholstery comes standard, with simulated leather added in the Activ and RS. The Activ also adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the RS has red interior accents.

Technology starts with a 7-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a six-speaker stereo. The Convenience Package for the LT and above adds an 8-inch touch screen, extra USB ports, and a household-style power outlet.

In addition to the full suite of airbags, traction, stability control, and rearview camera, every 2023 Trailblazer comes with several driver safety aids. These include a forward collision warning system, automatic braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. The Driver Confidence Package for the LT trim and above adds a blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert and rear parking sensors. You can get adaptive cruise control by adding the Technology Package to the Activ or RS.
