Jennings Chevrolet

Jennings Chevrolet is a proud sponsor of Wild Duck Racing! Watching Jason on the track as he learns and grows as a person and a driver makes us proud to stand by him as he chases his goals in the racing world. Jason is no. 2, 15, and old enough to drive on the public streets. He has thousands more miles of experience driving than his peers, but will still need to learn the rules of the road and adjust to traffic going both directions.

Track Practice

Because Jason had only been on the A-kart track once since last season, we decided to head to the track very early to try and get some extra seat time. We spent two days adjusting the kart and trying out different set ups. Over these two days, the kart and Jason got faster as he built confidence and found the sweet spot on the track.

Road America

Jason had a chance to race at what could be considered his home track, Road America. He was initially placed in the Novice group, but was quickly moved up when he was seen passing a Mercedes SLK when he was essentially driving a rental!

Hello Race Fans,

The trailer is loaded up for another weekend at the track but there are no karts in it. The penultimate race of the season is not a kart race but a stint in the #13 Rice Race Prep F1600 formula car at Pittsburgh with the Formula Race Promotions series. Jason just returned from a kart race on the same just a couple weeks ago. Rice Race had two drivers of their F1600 win two of the three Team USA scholarships which opened a seat for Jason. The weekend will start with a full day of practice and coaching followed by two days of more practice and 3 races. We are very excited for this opportunity to show his racing prowess with a high level team. I will be posting updates, pictures, and videos on social media, make sure to follow along.

Blue Race Car

The last race of the season is a Championship Enduro Series kart race at World Wide Technology Raceway. Normally this race would be the first of the season but with the pandemic, schedules were wildly shaken and stirred. This race will also determine the series positions for the season. The top 5, which includes Jason, are very close and the weekend will settle some grudges one way or another. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate this year and the weekend will be warm and sunny instead of a complete rain out.

Jason gets plaque

Hello Race Fans,

In October 2011 Jason took his first drive in a kart at 6 years old, over the last 9 years he has logged thousands of miles, laps, and hours sitting in kart driving as fast as he can. This October 2020 Jason stepped into a race car to participate in his first race. We had plans to do a bunch of auto racing but when covid arrived and wreaked havoc we focused on karting. The kart season was winding down and we really needed to get him into a race car. I connected with Greg at Rice Race Prep who had seat available in an F1600 at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. Even better it was just a couple of weeks after a kart race at the same track. After a day and half of practice, Jason was fairly comfortable driving and ready for his first race. He was definitely the fastest of the rest of the field behind the top 6 drivers. His biggest challenge was finding confidence to make passes when he was the faster car. He finished his first race in 7th after dogging on the tail of a slower driver for most of the race.

The second race of the weekend started with a slight off as he battled for position and put him, again, behind some slower traffic. After some work he cleared the traffic and was making ground until he dipped a wheel off track and slid into the back stretch wall. Thankfully, he was uninjured and was able to climb out quickly, however the car needed some work to be race ready again. By the final race Jason and the car had bonded and were starting to work well together. On the green he got an excellent start but fell back as he rebuilt his confidence. While the front pack battled hard he made up the gap. Nearing the end of the race he caught up and made it up to 3rd. In the second to last lap he missed a shift on the exit of the final turn and was dropped back down to 5th. He pushed hard to try to reclaim 4th but came up just short. In the end after penalties were assessed he finished 4th over all and 2nd in his class.

Thanks goes out to C&M Auto Service of Glenview, Jason's very first sponsor. Chuck and the team have supported him since his kid kart days welding his first cracked chassis and more recently a broken road racing chassis. They also support all the Wild Duck Racing fleet of cars, trucks, and trailers.
