As the weather gets warmer, it’s time to get out and about and shake off the winter blues. Here are some spring activities you could try in Glenview, IL.

Things to Do Near Glenview, IL

1. Get Involved with the Glenview Park DistrictGeneric Pic of Park | Glenview, IL

It’s a great time of year to get involved with the local community, and the Glenview Park District gives you lots of chances to do just that. You could clear land and gather seed at the restoration work days at the Grove at 1421 Milwaukee Road on April 16 and May 28 or help to restock the lake at the Lake Glenview fish release day on April 22 at Gallery Park on Patriot Boulevard.

Or the Grove’s animal care team will be running a Wildlife Heroes class about helping animals in need on April 23 at 1.30pm, for everyone aged eight and above. Watch out for these and other opportunities to help out, have fun, and enjoy the outdoors.

2. Get Inspired at the Glenview School of Arts

The beauty of springtime can be inspiring in all kinds of ways, but if you’re feeling the urge to capture what you see you could sign up for the art classes available at the Glenview School of Arts, at 1812 Glenview Road. The school runs two-hour adult art classes on Tuesdays, starting at 10am and 1pm. There’s also a ceramics class at 2pm Friday. Learn to express what you see through a variety of mediums, and build your skills.

3. Get Rustic at Historic Wagner Farms

There’s no place to appreciate the spring like a farm, and at Wagner Farms you’ll be able to learn about springtime through the ages in the 1920s farmhouse and 1930s barn. To really enter into the spirit, you could prebook online and take the children to experience Spring on the Farm on May 13 at 10am, meeting the livestock, planting the garden and experiencing a good old-fashioned spring clean.

The farm is located at 1510 Wagner Road and opens from 10am to 4pm daily. And the farmers market will be running there every Saturday at 8am to noon from June 18, so you can fill the bed of your Chevy Silverado 1500 with the freshest fruit, vegetables, meat, and dairy.

4. Get Walking in Harms Wood

Harms Wood, on Harms Road, is one of the best places to appreciate the glory of spring. This oak woodland contains many species of native wildflower, and the spring blossoms are at their best at this time of year. Birdwatchers might be able to spot warblers during their migratory season, as well as great horned owls, yellow-billed cuckoos, and hairy woodpeckers. With beautiful unpaved trails, this is a wonderful place for a walk in the wild.

No matter how many springtimes you see, each one feels fresh and exciting, so enjoy the chance to explore and connect in the local area. And don’t forget to visit us at Jennings Chevrolet to check out our latest inventory and offers.
