You may think you know the Trailblazer from years past. However, the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer will make you think again. It’s been revamped into a sporty, new subcompact SUV with great features at an affordable price. Let’s take a look!
Engine and Drivetrain
The standard engine in the new Trailblazer is a peppy turbocharged 1.2-liter engine. It’s paired with continuously variable automatic transmission, which provides a seamless transition from gear to gear. This pairing is only available in front-wheel drive.
For a little more power, there’s also an optional turbocharged 1.3-liter engine with an automatic nine-speed that shifts smoothly. This engine is available in both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive
Spacious Cabin
With seating for five, the Trailblazer has a decent about of roominess. When the rear seats are upright, it has 25.3 cubic feet of cargo space. But with the seats folded, there’s a spacious 54.4 cubic feet of space. There’s also a folding front passenger seat that works well for carrying longer items.
Impressive Fuel Economy
The new Trailblazer gets high marks for its EPA rating. With the 1.2-liter engine, you can expect 28 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. The 1.3-liter engine is even more efficient with 29 mpg city and 33 mpg highway.
Infotainment
The infotainment system in this vehicle is user-friendly with bright graphics. A 7-inch touchscreen is standard, with an optional 8-inch screen available as an upgrade. If music is your thing, a premium Bose audio system with seven speakers is a notable upgrade.
Connectivity
We all know staying connected with our devices is a priority these days. Several integrated tech features in the Trailblazer make that a breeze. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will keep your phone apps at your fingertips. A WiFi hot spot, Bluetooth capability, and USB ports are also handy.
Safety Features
Many active and passive safety features come standard on this vehicle. All Trailblazers have a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and automatic braking. Some of the upgraded safety features include blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Pricing and Trims
There are five different trims to choose from, depending on your desired options. The entry-level L model starts at $19,000, which is an unbelievable price for a new SUV. It’s well-equipped for a base model with tech options, remote keyless entry, and 16-inch steel wheels.
The two middle trims with front-wheel drive are the LS at $21,500 and the LT at $23,600. Each of those models is available in all-wheel drive, which brings the price up slightly. There are more available options on these trims, including all-wheel drive, heated front seats, a sunroof, and an improved audio system.
Sporty Trims
The Trailblazer Activ trim and the RS trim are geared for a little off-roading. They both start at $25,400 and include upgraded shock absorbers, a skid plate, and an all-wheel drive.
