The 2021 Chevy Tahoe has received considerable upgrades over previous years’ models. This SUV has three-rows and a larger exterior and interior, with additional space allocated for cargo and passenger comfort. Its bigger cabin, driver-assistance options, choice of powerful engines, and infotainment features make it a force to be reckoned with.

What’s New?

The 2021 Tahoe is widely considered to have received numerous significant improvements. The interior and exterior both have been completely redesigned, including a lengthening that allows for a roomier passenger experience and additional cargo space. Also included for the first time is an independent rear suspension – a feature that’s already been copied by its closest rivals.

Engine and Performance

Every previous model of Tahoe has been powered by a V-8 engine, and that hasn’t changed in 2021. It still comes standard with a 355-hp 5.3-liter engine with an option to upgrade to a 420-hp 6.2-liter. However, new to the 2021 model is a diesel 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. While the diesel option is less powerful, coming in at 277hp, it has the same towing capacity as the larger 6.2-liter V-8. Along with the standard 10-speed automatic transmission, you have your choice between an all-wheel or rear-wheel drive.

Fuel Efficiency

When it comes to fuel efficiency, the most economic option is the standard 5.3-liter V-8, which has been rated at 16mpg in the city and 20mpg on the highway, with an average of 18mpg combined. Auto-stop/start technology comes standard with both 5.3-liter engine and 6.2-liter V-8 options, in addition to cylinder deactivation which is meant to improve fuel economy in the city.

The diesel option, despite its lower HP range, is capable of averaging about 27mpg on the highway, and 23mpg combined highway and city. All-told, the diesel engine is capable of driving for about 600 miles on the freeway on a single tank of gas.

Interior

As mentioned, the 2021 Tahoe has the largest interior yet. In the third row alone, you can expect an additional 10 inches of leg space, with the second row of seats able to be effortlessly slid forward or backward for increased flexibility to meet various passenger or storage needs.

Thanks to the newly-introduced independent rear suspension, the interior has a lower and flatter load floor. When you fold the second and third-row seats, you can expect a whopping 123 cubic feet of cargo space – that’s 28 more than previous models.

Infotainment

If you like a comfortable, relaxing ride for you and your passengers, the Tahoe has you covered. Every model comes with a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, and a 10.2-inch touchscreen capable of using Apple CarPlay, Android Auto. There are also several interior charging ports to keep your devices charged and running during even the longest trips.

The 2021 Tahoe has been redesigned from the ground up. The newly added independent rear suspension allows for a roomier cabin and increased cargo space, while the addition of a 277-hp diesel engine will keep you on the road for the long-haul. Combine the comfy interior with various infotainment options and a smooth ride, and it’s easy to see why the 2021 Tahoe is in high demand.
